Aleksandra Huić, PhD
Department of Psychology, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Zagreb (Croatia)
An assistant professor at the Chair of School Psychology, Department of Psychology, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb, and an associate of the Center for Teacher Education at same Faculty (CZON FFZG). She has more than 15 years of research experience in the field of educational psychology and social psychology, and program evaluation, and ten years of experience in educating teachers who teach at all levels of education (from primary to tertiary).
She studies teachers' attitudes, expectations, and styles of teaching and motivating students. She is interested in children's rights, especially the right to participate in the education system. She is exploring the prevention of poor developmental outcomes and adolescent mental health problems.
So far, she has participated in fifteen domestic and international scientific projects, one of which is a project of the Croatian Science Foundation. She was a co-leader of the 17th and 24th Summer School of Psychology, and a mentor-advisor in a dozen student research projects, two of which were awarded the Rector's Award. About 20 graduate theses have been defended under her mentorship.
So far, she has published 33 scientific papers (of which 8 are chapters in books), and is the co-author and co-editor of one scientific book. She has also published 10 professional papers and submitted about 100 presentations at national and international conferences. She is the co-author of two prevention programs - prevention of gambling in adolescents and prevention of sexual violence against and among children and adolescents. She is a reviewer for over 15 domestic and international journals. She was a visiting scholar at the University of Texas at Austin and ISCTE IUL, Lisbon, Portugal.
She is actively involved in the organization of domestic and international scientific conferences, and is engaged in activities to popularize science. She is one of the winners of the state award for science in the category of popularization of science for the 3rd Psihofest - Festival of Psychology (2015).
She teaches the courses Introduction to Preschool and School Psychology and Methods of Teaching Psychology in the study program of psychology at FFZG. In addition, she teaches several courses within the CZON at FFZG (Educational Psychology, Communication in Education and Classroom Management). She is one of the lecturers in several professional trainings in teaching methods for higher education teachers, and regularly holds trainings and workshops on the topics of presentation and communication skills and the quality of teaching and evaluation of knowledge.
She completed additional training in the teaching methods for higher education, several training programs in the field of statistical data processing and psychological counseling, as well as training for the Head of development and implementation of projects funded by EU funds. She was also a student of the International Summer School of the European Association for Experimental Social Psychology.
She is a member of the Croatian Psychological Chamber. She is a permanent associate of the Agency for Education.
