Barbara Balaž, PhD

She works at the Department of Psychology at the Catholic University of Croatia (CUC) from the November 2015, where she is currently a Postdoctoral Researcher. She graduated in the same year in the field of academic emotions at the Department od Psychology at the Faculty of Croatian Studies. She enrolled at the Doctoral Degree Program in Psychology at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities University of Zagreb in 2017, and obtained her PhD degree in October 2021 with the theme Determinants and outcomes of epistemic emotions in educational context. The main research interest are in the area of students' academic emotions and teacher emotions.
She was part of the research group at the research project Parents’ work, family economic hardship, and well-being of parents and children during 2016 (principal investigator Marina Merkaš, PhD, project funded by the Catholic University of Croatia) and installation research project Digital technology in the family: patterns of behaviour and effects on child development (principal investigator Marina Merkaš, PhD, project funded by the Croatian Science Foundation).
She is currently a member of the Organizing Committee for The 27th JURE 2023 Pre-Conference (which will be held in August 2023). She was Head of the Organizing Committee of the 1st International Scientific Conference of the Department of Psychology at the CUC (held in December 2017) and member of the Organizing Committee of the 2nd (held in December 2019), the 3rd (held in December 2021), and the 4th (will be held in December 2023) conference.
At the Department of Psychology at the CUC, she teaches courses Educational Psychology, Positive Psychology, Practicum in Methodology and Non-Experimental Quantitative Methodology.
She is member of the Croatian Psychological Chamber, Croatian Psychological Association and European Association for Research on Learning and Instruction (EARLI).
