Irena Burić, PhD
Department of Psychology, University of Zadar (Croatia)

A Professor at Department of Psychology at the University of Zadar. She received her PhD at the University of Zagreb in 2010.  

Her research interests pertain to teacher personality and emotion and their relationships with teaching effectiveness and well-being. In her research, she uses complex multilevel and longitudinal designs to grasp dynamic interplay of teacher non-cognitive characteristics in explaining various teacher- and student-related outcomes.

In addition to the current research project, she was a principal investigator of the installation research project funded by Croatian Science Foundation (2014-2017) aimed at investigating teacher emotion and emotion regulation, their personal and contextual antecedents and effects on teacher motivation, well-being, and relationships with students.

She received several rewards for her scientific works, i.e., Rector’s Award for outstanding achievements in research work (2017) and Award for scientific achievements from the Department of Psychology at the University of Zadar (2015 and 2018).

She teaches courses in educational psychology and basic and advanced statistics at undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate levels at University of Zadar and University of Zagreb.

She currently serves as an associate editor for the Personality and Individual Differences and Psychological Test Adaptation and Development journals and is a member of the European Association of Personality Psychology (EAPP), European Association of Psychological Assessment (EAPA), and Croatian Psychological Association (HPD).
